Monmouth Country Sheriff
Sheriff Golden is a lifelong resident of Monmouth County and brings with him a wealth of experience in law enforcement and public administration, with over 30 years’ experience in law enforcement, as well as experience as an EMT, certified paramedic, and volunteer firefighter.
Shaun has been instrumental in promoting shared services in Monmouth County, specifically through the expansion of the Communications Division, to cost-effectively address the ever-increasing needs of Monmouth County’s first responders. He is confronting our heroin crisis, keeping us safe from terrorism, and protecting our most vulnerable residents by creating the state's first-ever registry that links first responders with vital emergency information for residents with special needs.
Sheriff Golden recently launched a county-run emergency medical services operation, MedStar, in response to the critical shortage of local volunteer EMTs. Under Sheriff Golden's leadership, the office was the first to hold and maintain five national accreditations, including the law enforcement division, the correctional facility, correctional healthcare, the 9-1-1 emergency dispatch center, and the police academy.
Clerk
Christine Giordano Hanlon, Esq. has served as Monmouth County Clerk since 2015. She has worked since then to modernize the office, implement new initiatives, and expand the services of the Monmouth County Clerk's Office. Prior to becoming Clerk, she practiced law for over 20 years, most recently at Archer & Greiner P.C. Her legal work focused on government affairs and municipal law. She is also a former Commissioner of the Monmouth County Board of Elections, serving as Secretary for two years.
As Clerk, Christine has modernized our county by launching a free mobile elections app and website, developing a comprehensive website for all of the County Clerk's services, digitizing paper records, and increasing electronic filing of property records. Christine has enhanced accessibility by creating programs like the Mobile County Connection that brings services onsite to our communities and expanded services through new programs such as Your Vote Matters, a civic engagement program for our youth, Honoring Our Heroes, a veterans discount program, and a free alert program for Monmouth County residents.
Commissioner Director
As Director of the Board of Commissioners, Tom has overseen a reduction in the size of county government while maintaining and enhancing service. A fierce advocate for small business, Tom initiated programs like Made in Monmouth, Grown in Monmouth, and Brewed in Monmouth to revitalize the business climate and spur job growth. Also, in an effort to enhance the local economy, Tom established a tourism advisory group to bring mayors and tourism leaders together. Recognizing the ever-growing costs for our 53 municipalities, Tom spearheaded the state's number one shared services program, allowing municipalities to utilize county services at low cost, thereby saving taxpayer dollars. Tom is committed to preserving the beauty of Monmouth County by overseeing an increase in parkland and open space to over 18+ acres. Tom is a former Mayor of his hometown of Neptune City.
Commissioner Director
An attorney with strong government experience and former Mayor of Wall Township, Commissioner DiRocco oversees the county budget process, delivering balanced budgets year after year, thereby keeping taxes stable. He has led efforts to maintain Monmouth's AAA bond rating from all three major credit agencies, saving our residents millions, as our healthy finances allow the county and its municipalities to borrow at lower interest rates. Due to the county's strong financial condition under Nick's leadership, the county has the lowest tax rate in the State of New Jersey. Nick is a strong supporter of law enforcement and first responders, with investments in critical training and equipment. He is dedicated to keeping Monmouth the great place to live, with top-notch county schools and libraries.
