FREEHOLD - Despite a challenging night for Republicans across New Jersey, Monmouth County once again stood out as a clear and decisive Republican stronghold, delivering sweeping victories up and down the ballot and reaffirming voter confidence in local GOP leadership.
Republican gubernatorial candidate Jack Ciattarelli earned more than 54 percent of the vote in Monmouth County, receiving 151,045 votes compared to Democrat Mikie Sherrill’s 126,122. Monmouth delivered one of Ciattarelli’s strongest countywide performances in the state.
Republicans swept every major county office. Republican incumbent Sheriff Shaun Golden secured re-election with 153,042 votes, defeating Democrat Michael Warren, who received 114,255. Golden expanded his winning margin from previous cycles, underscoring continued countywide support for public safety record.
County Clerk Christine Giordano Hanlon was also re-elected by a decisive margin, winning 152,817. The results reflect voters’ continued trust in Hanlon’s management of county elections and public records.
Republican County Commissioners Thomas A. Arnone and Nick DiRocco were re-elected overwhelmingly as well. Arnone received 151,468 votes and DiRocco received 147,349. The victory secures continued Republican control of the Monmouth County Board of Commissioners.
Monmouth County Republicans also had a strong night with municipal races across the county.
“These results send a clear message, not just across the county, but to the entire state,” Monmouth County Republican Chairman Shaun Golden said in a statement. “Even in a tough year statewide, Monmouth County residents continue to support Republican leadership in our county and our towns to protect taxpayers, keep communities safe, maintain strong services, and deliver responsible government. We are grateful for the trust voters continue to place in our candidates.”
“Monmouth County’s results reaffirm its role as a stabilizing force for Republican principles and effective governance,” said Commissioner Tom Arnone. “The GOP’s across-the-board victories demonstrate that residents remain confident in the direction of the county and the leadership guiding it.”
“We can’t thank Jack Ciattarelli enough for how hard he worked and how much heart he put into this campaign,” said County Clerk Christine Hanlon. “Even though the gubernatorial results weren’t what we hoped for, Jack showed up for New Jersey every single day and inspired so many people here in Monmouth County.”
